Two Little Blackbirds

Two little blackbirds
sitting on a hill. (hold up two fingers)
One named Jack (lift one finger)
One named Jill (lift the other finger)
Fly away, Jack (put first finger behind back)
Fly away, Jill (put other finger behind back)
Come back, Jack (hold up first finger again)
Come back, Jill. (hold up other finger again)

I got this from Story Time Secrets, but it's a very old rhyme. Katie says, "This can also be done for a loud/soft theme. Just rename the birds Soft and Loud and change the volume of your voice when you mention each one." I made flannel bird puppets for the kids to use.

  1. These are precious. Seeing a roomful of children holding them would give me hope that spring may indeed come to Connecticut someday!!

  2. They wanted to take them home, but we made our own popsicle stick puppets afterwards and they were happy with that!
